Familiar music.
Nothing complicated.
A simple music player built around a familiar knob and one large, easy-to-press button. Turn it on, adjust the volume and listen.
How to use it Load your own music
Plug it in.
Turn the knob.
Listen.
No screen. No app. No account. No pairing. No Wi-Fi.
Everything needed to use the radio is included. It comes with its power supply and preloaded public-domain recordings, ready to play as soon as it is plugged in.
The large illuminated front button is designed to be easy to find and easy to press, while the volume knob keeps the most important control familiar.
Two everyday controls. That’s it.
Everyday operation is intentionally simple. Most of the time, all you need is the knob.
The knob
The button
A simple three-hour timer.
Inside the back of the radio is a small switch for the optional three-hour sleep timer. Move the switch one way to turn the timer on, or the other way to leave it off.
When the timer is enabled, the radio automatically enters standby after three hours. The switch can simply be set once and left alone.
Make the music personal.
The radio comes ready to play with preloaded public-domain recordings.
You can also easily replace or add music with songs that are familiar and meaningful to the person using the radio.

This project began with my father. As his dementia progressed, operating ordinary music equipment became increasingly difficult, while familiar music remained meaningful to him.
I wanted something that still felt like a radio: a physical object with a familiar knob, immediate sound and as little friction as possible.
No touchscreen to understand. No app to navigate. No password to remember. Just music and a simple way to reach it.
This project is based on the original Vintage Radio concept created by Zion Brock . This Cosmic Vintage Radio is my own adaptation, built and refined for simple everyday use.
